Numerology in a Nutshell

My article is a brief overview of the characteristic features of numbers. Assigned to each of us is a figure that, in a manner of speaking, sets a general framework for our lives. Numerologists call it the birth vibration or the birth program. There are nine main birth vibrations. There are also master vibrations, which I will discuss on another occasion. The number of birth vibrations is computed by adding every figure in one's date of birth until we arrive at a single digit number. For instance, the date 18 Nov. 1979 = 1 + 8 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 9 = 38 =3 + 8 = 11 = 1 + 1 = 2 produces the birth vibration "2".

1's are persons that value independent thinking. They seek to lead others, have tremendous creative potential, and are very bright and highly ambitious, as are the goals they set for themselves.
1's like to command and dominate. They are always brilliant but occasionally may become too frank. Their love of independence makes them insist on achieving goals by themselves, ones are wary of owing anything to others. At times, they may be perceived as conceited and vain.

2's are natural mediators and diplomats, are good team players, and are always happy in the company of others. Twos are modest, sensitive and shy, and are always in need of praise and affection. They hate to be lonely, and therefore often invite guests or visit friends. Psychologically independent, they are exceptional confidant - they have the ability to come up with the best solution [one that will not hurt anyone] and suggest it in a diplomatic and subtle way. Although loyal and trustworthy, they are uncomfortable at center stage - they do much better as advisors.

3's epitomize the joy of life; threes enjoy it themselves and know how to impart it to others. The figure three is one of the art triad. Threes are excellent at expressing themselves with words [have the ability to communicate feelings and thoughts] and with dance. They are likeable, nice, keen on being at the center of interest, and much like chameleons, they transform best to fit in with their present company. On occasion, they are coquettish and superficial.

4 is the "earth number", a buttress and mainstay. Fours are methodical and systematic, and they seek material stability for themselves and their close ones. Rarely put off by routines and monotony, they are pragmatic, cautious, and wary of sudden changes of plans. As sensitive as fours are, they are not very good at expressing their feelings in a spontaneous way. They are not after luxury and comfort, and they can live with a moderate level of material security.

5 typifies a zest for life, a driving force that is essential in any action. Fives are energetic, dynamic, and always in motion. They frequently change their interests and relations with others. Much like ones, fives are highly intelligent and excellent at communication and persuasion. They love literature, company, fun and living life to the fullest. Despite all these qualities, fives are shy and idealistic when it comes to romance. Few of them realize that their charm and magnetism captivate the opposite sex.

6's are filled with harmony, warmth, affection and compassion. They are outstanding caretakers and good keepers of the family fire. The figure six is one of the art triad. Sixes have an excellent sense of smell, and they are terrific decorators with refined tastes. Sixes put feelings before intellect, they are sensitive to others, and want to be treated likewise. Sixes intuitively seek harmony and beauty. They like a comfortable life and therefore always look to improve the standard of living of themselves and their close ones.

7's are mystics in search of answers to the eternal questions of "where do we come from?" and "why are we here?". Sevens like solitude and tranquility which help them grow intellectually and spiritually. These perfectionists and aesthetes at times feel maladjusted to reality - their escape is into loneliness and addiction. Sevens are highly sensitive. They surround themselves with walls of rationality and intellect and, as a result, are often perceived as cold and aloof. They are also highly intuitive.

8's seek to strike a balance between spiritual development and control over matter. They are skilled organizers and planners. Perseverant in achieving goals, they see obstacles as challenges that stimulate them to work hard. Eights are ambitious and very demanding of themselves and others. They often make enemies as a result. Eights have an excellent business sense and rarely succumb to stress. Honest, genuine and loyal, they waste little time on fun and entertainment. They always have some important business to attend to.

9's are savers, guides and teachers of universal values. Nines jump at any opportunity to help others. They are talented artists [actors] with a knack for the humanities. They have strong personalities, love independence and live their lives on their own terms. They have the nature of a mystic, a philosopher and an initiator of changes. To function well, they need freedom, space and contact with nature. They are highly intuitive and hate rote routine.
