LOCATION
TRANSPORT AND COMMUNICATION
The commune of Miedzichowo is situated in the administrative district
of Nowy Tomyśl, in western Wielkopolska. Through the centre of the commune
runs the main west-east transport route - National Highway No.2. Poznań
lies 60 km away; Berlin 185 km.
The A-2 Motorway runs past the northern boundary of the commune, with
an entrance and exit located at Bolewice (the so-called Nowy Tomyśl junction).
A comprehensive network of local roads facilitates transport around the
commune. An extensive telecommunications network - both terrestrial and
cellular - provides a sure guarantee of connection.

70%, is forest and lakes.

into 14 village administrative areas. The largest localities are Bolewice
(1,845 residents) and Miedzichowo (471 residents).

TECHNICAL AND RECREATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Over
50% of the commune residents are served by the communal water supply service.
In the main locality of Bolewice, in 1997, a modern sewage purification
plant came into operation, with a 5 km network of collecting drains. A
further 4.5 km are to be constructed within the next few years. An action
plan for the utilisation of communal sewage has been elaborated, which
covers the majority of homes in the commune. This will meet the expectations
of both residents and guests of our commune. The
protection of the environment is a priority for the commune, which makes
full use of the blessings of nature. Numerous lakes, of the highest standards
of cleanliness, together with huge areas of forest and woodland, home
to all kinds of animals and undergrowth, represent a haven of peace and
security, giving pleasure to multitudes of tourists from Poland and abroad.
The agricultural-touristic character of the commune, together with the
friendly disposition of the local authorities and resident population
are conducive to the development of agro-tourism, and numerous guest-houses
and recreation centres offering a wealth of recreational possibilities
are springing up in the area.
An additional factor which will raise the attractiveness of the commune
in the near future is the construction of a reservoir, with a surface
area of 320 ha, in the locality of Sępolno. The "Bobrówka Reservoir"
features in the strategic plans of the Wielkopolska province, and will
lie approx. 2.5. km from the motorway exit.
ECONOMY
The agricultural-touristic nature of the commune limits the possibilities
for the development of other branches of economic activity. Nevertheless,
in the eastern part of the commune, encompassing notably the entrance
and exit of the motorway, some small production firms and a larger number
of craft workshops have been established. It is here that the commune
has designated, in its spatial management plan, economically-assisted
areas.
This
part of the commune is also the most densely populated, with a labour
force yet to be fully utilised.
PLUSES OF THE COMMUNE
