Professor Javier Solana doctor honoris causa of Poznań University

On the 12th February 2000 at 10 a.m., the University Concert Hall was host to the ceremonial award of an honorary doctorate of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań to Prof. Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Western European Union, and former Secretary of NATO. Taking part in the ceremony were Foreign Secretary Prof. Bronisław Geremek and other personages from governmental, diplomatic and parliamentary spheres.

As during the inauguration of the academic year, UAM Rector Prof. Stefan Jurga referred to other famous recipients of this honour: "Among the honorary doctors of Poznań University who, in a symbolic manner, illuminate the roll of honour of the academic community, one can find the most outstanding political participants in the regenerated Poland: Józef Piłsudski, Roman Dmowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Ignacy Mościcki".
