Beautiful Bride
Everyone
knows that a bride must have something borrowed, something blue, something
old and, of course, something new. What is most often new is the dress,
to which the bride also devotes the most time and attention. Sometimes,
she begins to choose it a few months before the planned wedding day. And
the choice is wide if, for example, you look in at Madame Zaręba's Salon
of Wedding and Evening Dresses.
There is the ever-popular so-called 'meringue' but, above all, there are
the most fashionable lines such as the three-part dress, recently in favour,
consisting of a corset, a basic skirt, and a fastened train of a length
to suit the wishes of the client. Also in fashion of late are the 'empire'
dress, with the bodice-line under the bust, delicately widening towards
the hem, and extended at the back, and the simple, classical dress, emphasising
the waist and the hips.
The
most fashionable materials at present are delicate laces, and tulles decorated
with both French and English embroidery. In addition to their characteristic
lightness, these materials allow one to obtain the effect of a multi-coloured
dress. If, for example, we sew the dress from an ash-coloured material,
and add to it a white lace, this will give us a silvery effect.
Just as in previous seasons, the most popular dresses are in white and
ecru, although currently most in fashion are delicate pinks, and tints
of gold and silver. Also worth a mention are embroidered guipure laces.
As for head decoration, Małgorzata Zaręba - the salon's designer and owner
- recommends mainly veils. If the back of the dress is plain, the veil
can be long: she recommends a length equal to that of the dress or even
trains of 3-4 metres. If the dress is simple, the veil is its only decoration.
At the back it should be pinned up, whilst at the front it should constitute
an aureole for the head. An interesting impression is given by head-dresses
from natural flowers, as well as by hats, which are once again back in
favour.
A very important element of a bride's attire is her underwear, which should
emphasise or even mould the figure. Nothing, however, could be more important
than the blue garter on the right leg. On this, apparently, depends the
future happiness of the bride.
Whilst
we are on the subject of legs, it is important to remember about the selection
of suitable footwear. For both style and comfort, one could choose satin
shoes with an open toe and a rectangular-shaped heel. However, stiletto
heels are slowly appearing among the most fashionable facons. An indisputable
advantage of satin shoes is the fact that they can be dyed to match the
colour of the dress.
